McAllen Family Medicine Residency Program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Six first year positions are  generally selected through the NRMP match.  All unfilled positions will be filled through the scramble process.  Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) only. All applicants are required to have meet their medical school’s USMLE graduation requirements and also the Texas State Medical Board  requirements before match Ranking.

 

                 Criteria for U.S.  & International Graduates is as follows:

                      1.     ECFMG certification. Copy of certificate is required

                     2.     Must have passed required  USMLE steps within 3 attempts each. 

                     3.     No minimum graduation date.

                     4.     Copy of Medical School diploma is required.

                     5.     Visa status-US citizen or permanent resident alien (No visa sponsorship)

                     6.     Applicants must meet all requirements to license in state of  Texas

                                     Schools on acceptable list of TMB.

                                   Passage of all parts of USMLE exams within 7 years.

                                   Must fulfill 10 year exception, if not passed all USMLE  exams        

                                   by the 10th year prior to application.

 

We require personal interviews for admission into our residency program. Interviews will begin in October and run through January. These interviews are conducted at the McAllen Family Medicine Residency Program.
